Tifton Police are on the lookout for a gunman who fired more than 20 shots in a neighborhood near a school. One person was wounded.
They're asking anyone with information to come forward so they can get this dangerous shooter off the streets.
Tifton Police are on scene busy investigating a shooting that left one person injured, near two schools that were put on lockdown as a precaution.
An officer just happened to be in the area at the time. "The officer say he heard ten or fifteen then took a break and then ten or fifteen more," said Tifton PD Lt. Lee Dunston.
It happened at a housing complex near Elm Lane and Bellview Avenue behind Puckett Park.
The shooting victim was taken to Tift Regional by a passerby. "Best we can tell injuries are not life threatening. We have been assured, but we did locate an area we believe the shooting occurred," said Dunston.
They ask residents to come forward with any information because the shooter is still on the loose.
"Anytime you have someone that's willing to shoot high powered rounds, and that what it appears to be, in an area like this that has residences, highways, a church nearby, you certainly want to be aware of an individual willing to do that," Dunston.
They're not releasing the name of the shooting victim, but believe they know the shooter and this is not a random act.
They're hoping to make an arrest soon. "Will he do it again? I can't tell you."
The shooting happened around lunch time, forcing a lockdown at Charles Spencer Elementary School as police searched the area for the gunman.
