Decatur Co. murderers get life in prison

BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -

Two men accused of shooting and killing Robert Roscoe Cannon in August, 2014 have been found guilty, after a five day trial.

Judge A. Wallace Cato sentenced Jonathan Maurice Johnson and Joshua Anthony Lee to Life in prison.

On August 17, 2014, Jonathan Maurice Johnson, 26, and Joshua Anthony Lee, 29, shot and killed Cannon in Attapulgus. They were found guilty of one count of Malice Murder and Aggravated Assault.

A third co-defendant, Marcus Trevon Scott, plead guilty on May 4, 2015 to Conspiracy to Commit Murder and was sentenced to 10 years to serve in the state system by Judge Kevin Chason.

"No parent should have to bury their child. My thoughts and prayers are with the Cannon family," said District Attorney David Atwel. "I would like to thank the jury for ensuring that the defendants won’t be able to hurt anyone else for a long, long time. The jury did an excellent job this week, and it was clear how serious they took their duty during the course of the five day trial.”
