ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Police are hoping for some help preparing for their 5th annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner.

The department is asking for churches with passenger vans to volunteer to drive people to the Civic Center for a Thanksgiving meal on November 24th.

"It's not an event where, often times you hear people say we're feeding the hungry. At some point and time everybody's hungry. It don't matter what economic status you from, what demographic you are a part of. Just come out, interact with the police department, because you're all part of Albany," said Sargent Kawaski Barnes of the Albany Police Department.

They served about 1,100 meals last year and expect to serve about 1,500 this year.

If you can help with transportation you can call (229) 431-3288 or (229) 431-2123.
