A Valdosta dentist is showing support for local troops while also trying to prevent tooth decay in kids.

NU-Smile Family Dentistry is holding their first candy buyback event.
Children can bring in a zip lock bag of leftover Halloween candy and receive a dollar and a gift bag.
Workers hope the event will bring in new patients.
They'll donate all the candy to troops at Moody Air Force Base.

"Just so that we can send it to the troops in Afghanistan who don't get to celebrate the holidays like we do,” said Carolyn Fawcett, Dental Assistant. “So we just like want to try to show the community that we want to send them back and have the kids just involved in something like this."

Kids can also meet the tooth fairy and a crowned tooth.
So far, they've collected 50 lbs of candy.
Kids can drop off their candy next Monday and Wednesday from 3 to 5 and Tuesday and Thursday from 3 to 4.
