It's hard to believe, but the Valdosta State Blazers will leave the borders of the Peach State for the first time this season on Saturday.
They'll log plenty of miles on their way to Cleveland, MS for a showdown with Delta State.
The question is, can the Blazer offense log enough points to keep up with a high-scoring Statesmen offense?
DSU has struggled to put points on the board in recent weeks, but they're probably looking at Valdosta St. as the ailment to their offensive woes. The Statesmen are averaging 51 points a game in their last three meetings with the Blazers.
VSU head coach David Dean knows his offense must be ready to keep up with the Delta St. attack.
"They have great skill guys. They've got a very good run game, great o-line," Dean says. "So they have a lot of potential to put a lot of points on the board. which makes it on the other side of the ball with us offensively, no wasted series. We need to be able to match every score they have, plus some."
Valdosta State will travel on Thursday to make the long drive to Cleveland a little less strenuous.
The Blazers and Statesmen kick off Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
