ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Organizations have a warning for those of you planning to donate money, clothing, or food this holiday season.
Folks at Second Harvest of South Georgia encourage you to do some research before you give.
If an organization fails to provide you with details of their mission or doesn't give you proof that your contribution is tax deductible, they may be scamming you.
Also watch out for organizations that use a name that closely resembles one of a better-known charity.
Eliza McCall, Chief of Marketing for Second Harvest of South Georgia, said, "It is incredibly unfortunate that it's something we have to deal with, but that's why it all the more important for organizations like us to make sure that people know what we're doing with their donations."
