Man arrested for stabbing baby's mother

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Just after 3:30 Tuesday afternoon,  Valdosta Police officers and detectives responded to an aggravated assault involving a man and a woman on Way Street. 

They found Jasmine Nelson, 22, with multiple stab wounds to her torso.  Her eight month old child, who was not injured, and the father of her child, Tevin J. Love, 21, were also there. 

Detectives determined an altercation had taken place between Nelson and Love, and Love stabbed Nelson repeatedly with a knife.  Love was arrested on scene.  

Nelson was taken to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment of her wounds, and is listed as "stable."  

Love is being held at the Lowndes County Jail and criminal warrants are pending against Love, for Aggravated Assault under the Family Violence Act, Cruelty to Children, and Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Felony.
