New business burglarized in Americus

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

Crooks stole ten-thousand dollars worth of dirt bikes from a car shop over the weekend.

A thief or thieves cut the fence behind TM Motors on East Lamar and stole the two dirt bikes.

The crime was just missed by nearby surveillance cameras. The owner of the new business in town is frustrated after being broken into again, and police take this seriously.

"We welcome new businesses within our community all the time and we value them, and we do everything that we possibly can to ensure that they can operate safely and prevent their businesses from being burglarized," said Interim Chief Herman Lamar.

The owner says the same thing happened two weeks ago as traffic passed nearby. He asks the public to call police if they see something like this happening again.
