ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A woman is in critical condition after she was shot in the face.
Dougherty County Police arrested the woman's husband for the shooting, which they believe was the result of a domestic argument.
According to a report, 32-year-old Artinitia "Clyde" Stringer was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery in the shooting of his wife, 39-year-old Debbie Stringer.
Investigators said they were called to the home on Council Drive just before 3 a.m. Sunday for a shooting. Debbie Stringer had been shot in the left eye.
"They were in the process of divorcing each other," said "He had went to the residence to get with her, as he tells us. And in the midst of that something happened."
Police say Clyde Stringer had a temporary protective order ordering him to stay away from his wife. He remains in the Dougherty County Jail tonight, while Debbie Stringer is hospitalized in critical condition.
Dougherty County Police continued their investigation into the shooting Monday, including the hunt for the pistol believed used and other evidence.
