ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Tornado warnings have been canceled for parts of Southwest Georgia as a tornado watch remains in effect until 7 p.m.
Weather officials said the tornadic thunderstorm would remain over mainly rural areas of Western Dougherty, Northeastern Calhoun, and Southeastern Terrell Counties, including Clarks Mill, Herod, Cordrays Mill, Sasser, Chickasawatchee, and Oak Hill.
Residents of these areas are urged to take immediate cover and move to a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. If in a mobile home or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter.
The warning comes after the National Weather Service in Tallahassee said tornadoes briefly touched down in Grady and Colquitt County Sunday.
Police in Doerun also reported a brief tornado touchdown on Sunday.
