Thief caught on surveillance stealing from cars

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Police are searching for a masked man who stole money from cars.

He was caught on surveillance video walking slowly up the driveway of a home on Lovers Lane Road in Dougherty County Wednesday morning about 2:15 a.m.

The video showed a man opening the doors on three cars, searching through them for something to steal.

Police believe he entered at least four cars in that neighborhood. What he didn't know that he was being watched by the home owner, while police were on their way.

"She woke up in the middle of the night, around 2:15, and just happened to look over at the camera monitor and observed an individual going inside of her vehicles. They did call the police," said Lt. Chad Kirkpatrick with Dougherty County Police.

The thief got $45, before he suddenly ran away.
