LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) - A man has been arrested eight months after a head-on collision in Lowndes County that left two people dead.
Troopers say 22-year-old Logan Paige Shelley and 23-year-old Kyle Naville of Valdosta were killed last February, when a Ford F-150, driven by 35-year-old Jeremy Mack Carter of Valdosta, slammed head on into a Ford Mustang driven by Shelley.
The crash happened on Old Clyattville Road, about two miles from Interstate 75.
According to a report, Carter was trying to pass a school bus and collided with the Mustang. Toxicology reports returned from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation showed that Carter had a blood alcohol concentration of .187 grams, over twice the legal limit.
On October 14, Carter was located by Lowndes County Sheriff's Office in Hamilton County, Florida, and arrested. Carter has been charged with two counts of Felony First Degree Vehicular Homicide, Reckless Driving, Driving Under the Influence, Driving on a Suspended License (Second Offense), Improper Passing and Open Container.
Carter is in the Lowndes County Jail.
