ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Red ribbon week kicked off for Albany students at Hugh Mills Thursday.
Several Dougherty County schools gathered at the stadium to learn the importance of being drug free.
"Education is the ultimate equalizer for the nation so it is important for us to gain a quality education and stay drug free," said Albany High senior Brandon Fenn.
Marion Stevens, the Coordinator of Student Support service explained, "so it's very important that we let them know you have to plan for you future by being drug free today, drugs can have an everlasting effect on the body at some point."
The students also marched in a parade with their school banners and wearing their school's colors.
