11 arrested in state wide gambling operation raids

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

 11 people across the state have been arrested in that commercial gambling raid we told you about Wednesday.

One of 15 locations raided yesterday was Kuntry's Restaurant and Convenience Center in Sasser.  

Thursday it is closed and put into receivership.

GBI agents say no one at the Sasser store was arrested, but money and evidence was seized.

Prosecutors say 86 stores across the state worked together in a gambling machine operation that were involved in $168 million  over the last five years.

    Albany Utilities has occupied the 207 Pine Ave. building since the late 70s, but utility leaders say it’s time to move on. Stephen Collier, Assistant City Manager of Utilities, told WALB News 10 that the current building is no longer in shape to do business.
