AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Kids in Americus took part in a special event Thursday night to kick off the Halloween weekend.
More than 100 kids came to downtown to take part in the annual trick-or-treating event.
It kicked off around 4 p.m. and wrapped up around 6. Kids from 2 to 10 were invited to come out, in costume of course, and take part in the event.
More than 30 local businesses set up tables to hand out candy.
"This is a great event for us because it really gets the children out," said Interim Downtown Director Ben Andrews. "It starts off the Halloween trick or treating season, and it also is a way that our businesses can get their name out there, reach out, give back to the community that supports them."
Organizers said it's a great way for the community to interact.
