In an update on a story we told you about last week, Albany city workers drained a pool behind a vacant East Albany home Wednesday.
City Commissioner Jon Howard said it was a safety hazard and asked city workers to drain it.
The home is one of several abandoned houses in the 200 block of Mitchell Avenue that city officials are now taking legal action to take over and make safe.
"Inform the judge that this pool needs to be covered as quickly as possible, because it is extremely deep. And is murky and it's filthy," Jon Howard Albany City Commissioner.
Commissioner Howard said the city has ten homes on its list to demolish next month as abandoned hazards.
City officials are adding the abandoned homes on this block to the list for action.
