SASSER, GA (WALB) - GBI agents raided more than a dozen locations in a statewide sting of illegal commercial gambling.
Agents began their work Wednesday morning across Troup, Houston, Bibb, Chatham, Terrell, and Henry Counties for violations of Georgia's commercial gambling laws.
Search warrants were served at 15 convenience stores and one residence, including the Kuntrys Restaurant and Store in Sasser.
"We have people call us sometimes about illegal stuff going on there. And I guess someone had called them. I don't know what prompted them to do that," said Terrell County Sheriff John Bowens.
GBI agents say multiple arrests are pending, and monetary assets were seized during today's raids.
According to a report from the GBI, all of the locations are currently licensed to operate Coin Operated Amusement Machines under the master license of Sudama Resorts, Inc.
Agents said customers were receiving cash payouts for winning credits.
Georgia law states credits may only be redeemed for lottery tickets and/or store merchandise.
