LEE CO., GA (WALB) - Lee County commissioners are also trying to increase EMS billing collections.
Leaders weren't happy with the company they hired the first of this year to handle collections.
That company was recently taken over by MARS-AMB which has increased collections.
That company gave a presentation to the board to try to convince the county to stay with them.
"One way we can off set the cost to the taxpayers of EMS is by collecting more revenue on the back end," said Rick Muggridge, Lee County Chairman. "If we collected as much revenue as we spent then there would be no cost to the taxpayers. Currently there is a cost to the taxpayer about $2 million.
The county asked MARS-AMB for proposals on how they plan to continue to improve services.
