COLQUITT CO., GA (WALB) - Students and Parents at Colquitt County High School are trying to save a 60-year-old prom tradition.
Monday night, students took the podium at the Colquitt County Board of Education meeting saying they don't want the Grand March at the football stadium before the prom to be canceled.
Junior class leaders say they won't pay for the prom and will put on their own march if it's eliminated.
They say they felt their voices weren't being considered.
"We hope that what we said today has influenced their decision and they take into consideration our input and our feelings," said Evelyn Fagan, Junior Class President.
"Students and Parents in the community were not considered in the decision making of canceling the Grand March," said Cole DeMott, Junior Class Treasurer. "We feel that it's a tradition that needs to be honored."
Superintendent Dr. Samuel Depaul told us tonight no decision has been made and school leaders will consider everyone's concerns.
