THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) - A big crowd showed up at a public hearing in Thomas County on the proposed gun range.
The overwhelming majority of them are against the proposal to expand a range on County Farm Road.
It's mainly used for law enforcement training now, but the Department of Natural Resources is considering adding to it and opening it to the public.
"The gun range that they are proposing is just located too close to our property and they need to find another location to put it," said Jeff Burton, Homeowner.
"The goal here is to build a facility that would be staffed while it's open, so that it is a safe, family, friendly place for people to recreationally target shoot," said Walter Lane, Hunter Development Program Manager for Wildlife Resource Division.
County Commissioners have not decided when they will make their final vote.
