SASSER, GA (WALB) - Mark's Melon Patch had many families arrive to purchase pumpkins for Halloween.
Charlie Ellis and her 6-year-old daughter Alexis are trying to find the perfect pumpkin at Mark's Melon Patch.
Alexis just might be the expert because if you ask her, she's done it plenty of times.
"Big pumpkins are a big project, it's a lot to carve it's a lot to clean out," said Alexis Ellis.
Charlie said they weren't going for a pumpkin that's too big or small. They're looking for one that's just right.
"She get's pretty excited especially when she goes laying everything out and start painting or carving the pumpkins," said Charlie. She really loves it."
When looking for the perfect pumpkin, you have to consider a few things.
"Nice healthy stem is one of the main things. Not broken off at the bass, because it can lead to infection," said Mark Daniels. "You want to make sure it's free of scars. Or really thin scars if it has scars."
For the Ellis family, it's about taking the pumpkin home and spending some quality time with family.
