FITZGERALD, GA (WALB) - Some Fitzgerald business owners are upset about a city ordinance that prevents them from putting merchandise outside.
Several stores put stuff outside in an effort to draw in shoppers. With the ordinance, that could result in a $200 fine.
One business owner says the ordinance is not applied properly to all businesses and says putting stuff outside helps his sales.
"I've had several people come through, see the mattress, stop and say, hey, I didn't know you was even here. And I'd make a $6-700 dollar. I've made $1000 sales off of it. People just stopping because they saw the mattress," said Myles Tyler.
We reached out to Fitzgerald city leaders but did not hear back from them on the ordinance.
