LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) - A House fire in south Lowndes County remained under investigation Thursday.
Firefighters were called to a mobile home in the 4100 block of Corinth Ln. around 3:15 Wednesday afternoon after drivers on a nearby road noticed smoke.
The people who live there were at work at the time, according to Lowndes County Fire Chief Richard Guyton. Chief Guyton said the home is a total loss and as of Thursday he had no idea what caused the fire.
"The fire did appear to originate in the rear of the structure," Chief Guyton pointed out. "So, we will be looking in that area of the structure to determine a cause."
Chief Guyton said that as of Thursday the homeowners were staying with friends and had not requested assistance from the Red Cross.
