VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Valdosta State University is giving women an opportunity to participate in nationally recognized self defense training.
Registration was open Wednesday for the Rape, Aggression, Defense training program, also known as "RAD", which will be taught at different locations on campus from 6-9 p.m. October 27th, 28th, and 29th.
The classes are taught by certified RAD instructors and are open to the public and suitable for women of all ages.
Yatri Thacker and Amber Patterson, both students at VSU, said they had not heard about the classes before but they were glad to learn about them and said they would consider signing up.
"I'm actually planning on doing classes like these, I just didn't know where," Thacker explained.
"I would definitely consider taking it," said Patterrson. "Sometimes, you just want to feel safe and that's the main thing. Especially walking around by yourself sometimes."
