BACONTON, GA (WALB) - Investigators confirmed they have arrested a man connected to a burglary and other attempted burglaries in Mitchell County.
According to a report, James Riley tried to break into the BZ Bee convenience store around 1 a.m. Monday.
The act was caught on surveillance video.
"We work hard so work hard and try to go home and rest," said owner Nick Patel. "And we had to come wake up in the morning and spend a couple of hours with them."
The store's security measures kept the would-be thief out but it still left a lot of damage they will cost money to repair.
"He tried to break the windows and he couldn't break it because it's a septic glass," said Patel.
The suspect left behind so much evidence that it was quick for investigators to have a pretty good idea on who was connected to the attempted break in.
Sheriff's deputies said Riley was the same person who attempted to break into another store in Pelham, and also broke into a store in Mitchell County, getting away with lottery tickets.
Riley was arrested around noon Monday. A booking photo of him was not immediately available.
Investigators said Riley will be charged in last week's smash-and-grab at Godwins Grocery located on the Grady County line.
They believe Riley also tried to unsuccessfully broke in to the Aden's store in Pelham last week.
As of Tuesday, he was just charged with the break-in at Godwins Grocery.
