DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - South Georgia's Mallary Baptist Association is also providing disaster relief to South Carolina flood victims.
Members took up an offering Thursday night to send to Georgetown County, South Carolina.
Some members have been trained by the Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief to help with cleanup and feeding recovery, but no teams from our area are scheduled to go to South Carolina yet.
"As followers of Christ we feel it's important to reach out to those who are in need," said Tom Hocutt, Interim Director of Missions. "Jesus gave an example of a Good Samaritan and that was in the context of who is my neighbor and it was someone in need that needed to be ministered to, and so that's what we try to do."
The Association has provided relief during many disasters including Hurricane Katrina and western wildfires.
