Family cuts ribbon on new 'Habitat' house

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A South Albany woman cut the ribbon to dedicate her new Habitat For Humanity home today.

Janet Lewis put in more than 300 hours of sweat equity to help build her new home on Willow Oak.

Lewis had to move back in with her mother several years ago. She said Habitat was an answer to her prayers for a new home.

"My daughter has a home to call her own. And when I pull up in the road and see what I'm working for, if that don't change your life I don't know what will," she said.

Lewis now is a big advocate for Habitat for Humanity, saying the home building process helped her grow as a person.

She said the  house signals a new beginning in her life.
