MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - Thieves played dirty while taking a tractor from a Moultrie business Friday morning. This is the third time this year this has happened to the company. But they are confident that the outcome will be different this time.
Friday morning, an expensive mower was stolen from the store, when criminals covered camera lenses with mud. Keith Gay says that unlike the last two times he's confident that they will find the people responsible. "You feel violated you feel terrible. Because you work hard you know to have a living and you know somebody just comes up and steals what you worked for."
"We put a bunch of cameras in, we put a bunch of surveillance systems in now," he said.
The store owner watched the whole thing from home when the alarms alerted him. But he could barely tell what was going on. "They come up behind them and put the mud on the camera."
But while the thieves were taking off with the mowers, Moultrie police were not that far away. "With in three minutes of when they left, the police department was here. So it was that close."
Gay says that because of their new changes and the leads that police it's only a matter of time. "I am feeling pretty confident that we are going to catch them this time."
The store is offering a $2,500 reward to anyone who can identify the suspects.
