CORDELE, GA (WALB) - Police are on the lookout for an armed robber who targeted employees when a store opened. The Eastside Grocery store on 8th Avenue has been robbed several times since last year.
Police say the store's location makes it a target for these robbers. Officers try to ride by the business at least five times per shift.
The most recent robbery happened at about 7 a.m. on Friday. Police say the robber is about 6-feet-4 and was wearing a red jacket, khaki pants, and black and white sneakers.
Detectives said many of the robbers have been getting away in nearby cars.
"We need the neighborhood to keep an eye out if you see a car parked, especially if someone is sitting in the car, at a house that you know to be empty, we need to be called. You need to call 911 and so we can check it out," said Sgt. Jeremy Taylor with the Cordele Police.
The Cordele Police Department said they will provide escorts for entries into businesses as well as bank escorts and escorts at night when leaving the business.
If you know about this recent robbery, you're asked to call the Cordele police.
