Man vows to shave head for breast cancer awareness

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Alfa Insurance is hosting a fundraiser to help support the cause in South Georgia.

The Alpha insurance office on Dawson Road has set a goal to raise $5,000.

If they meet their goal, their owner, Junior Coker said he will shave his head live on camera.

Everyone who makes a donation at their office will be entered in to a drawing to shave Coker's head.

They are also inviting people to stop by and visit their "Tree of Life" to support breast cancer and take a picture with it to post on their Facebook page.

"It's kind of a home grown idea we had one night. Jimmy Parnell with Alfa insurance just kind of sent down a challenge to the agents in his offices to come up with some way to raise awareness for Breast cancer and American Cancer Society.

Alpha insurance will also be hosting a "Pray in Pink" event on October 28 at 10 a.m.

All donations made to Alfa Insurance will be matched up to $25,000.
