ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany woman with breast cancer says prayer and a positive attitude are helping her make it through her treatments.

Claudia McDaniel shared her story with the Phoebe Putney Hospital Board Wednesday.

McDaniel underwent surgery and chemotherapy after discovering what turned out to be breast cancer during a self-exam in March.

"When you think positive things our bodies react positively," she said. "If you are always thinking you are going to be so sick, then you are going to make your body feel sick. I just couldn't do that."

McDaniel is also going to have radiation treatments.

She advises anyone who suspects they may have breast cancer from a self exam to call their doctor right away.
