ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Phoebe Putney's conversion to a new electronic medical record system is underway, and hospital officers are already talking about updates to improve it.
At the beginning of the month, Phoebe Putney Health System converted to MEDITECH, an electronic medical record system.
The conversion to the MEDITECH system is part of the Project ONE effort to streamline processes across the regional healthcare system to provide a "one patient" care experience.
"What it does is it gets every campus on board on the same electronic system," said Chief Medical Information Officer Bill Sewell. "This computer system carries the patient from the front door until the time we discharge them home. And it allows for a better integration of all their records so that that certainly provides for better care."
MEDITECH will also allow patients' information to update in the system within a matter of hours.
