ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany man is indicted for an April murder outside a Northwest Albany motel. The grand jury indicted Marquel "Chad" Culpepper, 29, for malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault.

Prosecutors say Culpepper shot and killed 38-year-old Kendrick Miller outside the office of the America's Best Value inn on North Slappey on April 16th.

Police say Miller fled the state after the shooting. "The allegation was he fled from the jurisdiction. He was arrested in New York and was brought back to Dougherty County for this matter," Greg Edwards Dougherty D.A.

The motel manager told our reporters at the time that Culpepper ran up to Miller outside the office, shot him without warning and ran away.

The D. A. says prosecutors believe they know the motive for the murder but would not disclose it.
