Research shows that horse racing would grow agriculture and put money in Georgia farmers' pockets, while generating $25 million annually for need-based scholarships and University of Georgia's agriculture school.
This highly regulated industry, legal in 43 states, requires no government funding, no taxpayer dollars.
Legalizing parimutuel wagering will create a permanent racing industry in Georgia, that will provide 5,000 permanent jobs, primarily in agriculture, for farmers, farm machinery dealers and others who serve farmers.
Southwest Georgia would reap many of these benefits. We can't afford to let this opportunity pass us by.
