VIENNA, GA (WALB) - Volunteer firefighters have a new station thanks to a generous citizen. Firefighters say the new facilities are a morale booster for everyone.
The new station has a six-bay garage to park their trucks and a bigger kitchen. The father of a volunteer firefighter who passed away helped make it all possible.
"Without Lee Harris, who actually developed the property here, and put everything together with the city, if it were not for Lee and the city council and mayor, we wouldn't be here. So we especially want to thank them," said Assistant Chief Michael Shurley.
Vienna has more than 20 volunteer firefighters who respond to almost 200 calls annually.
