VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

South Georgia Medical Center was reminding women Tuesday that it wasn't too late to sign up for the hospital's free breast cancer screening events.

The hospital will offer the free screenings on the 15th at the Pearlman Comprehensive Cancer Center on the hospital's main campus in Valdosta. A second screening event will be held on the 29th at the hospital's healthcare south clinic on Griffin Ave. in Valdosta.

As of Wednesday afternoon, about 30 people had signed up to get a screening.

"We're actually just opening it up to as many as we can see between 5:30 and 7:30 [p.m.] So, we're encouraging all the community to call us and register today," explained Courtney Orr, SGMC Community Health Promotions Coordinator.

For more information about the screenings or to register, call (229) 433-1074.
