Burglars hit pawn shop, steal assault rifles

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

Two burglars are caught on camera smashing a front window at a pawn shop, stealing 6 high powered assault rifles valued at more then $3,500.

Police are searching for the burglars tonight. They're reaching out to nearby businesses to see if anyone else has surveillance of the area.

"Maybe we can catch them without their faces covered up or get different directions of flight. Right now we are kind of limited to one video but if we're able to get these other videos, maybe we can piece the puzzle together a little bit more," said Sgt. Trey Norton with the Americus Police Department.

The pawn shop was also broken into this time last year when 2 teens drove a stolen car through the front door and stolen almost a dozen guns.
