VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Keep Lowndes Valdosta Beautiful was encouraging more people Thursday to sign up to help clean up rivers in Lowndes County this weekend.

The organization will be picking up trash from various areas along the rivers from 9-12 on Saturday.

As of Thursday, KLVB Executive Director Aaron Strickland said about 130 people had signed up but he could still use more volunteers.

"Some areas are more littered than others, so we're asking folks if they want to volunteer to either call my office or e-mail me. That way, I can place them at the location where they're most needed," Strickland explained.

The office's number is (229) 671-3698. You can also sign up by emailing Strickland at astrickland@valdostacity.com.
