GRADY CO., GA (WALB) - Grady County Sheriff's investigators are working to see if someone deliberately targeted their vehicles by placing nails on the road in front of the jail.
Roofing nails were found in tires on patrol cars and personal vehicles Monday.
Investigators say there is a chance the nails could have fallen off the back of a vehicle, but they're not discounting the chance someone was targeting them.
"If these vehicles had gotten into any kind of pursuit or responded to an emergency situation and that tire blew out as a result of that nail being there, it could have caused serious harm or bodily injury to an officer or even death. If it was a target, someone is going to face serious consequences," said investigator Chris Lucky.
Anyone with information on the nails is asked to call the Grady County Sheriff's Office at 229-377-5200.
