TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Georgia Department of Transportation officials say they're concerned by an increase in traffic fatalities.
So far this year 973-people have been killed in crashes on Georgia roads.
That's 122 more than this time last year.
"That 79 percent that drivers are distracted that really concerns me that I really concerns me that I want to get the message out. Look at the roadway be attentive, be a defensive driver. It may not be you that makes the mistake it may be the other driver that makes the mistakes," Chad Hartley said.
GDOT officials say that 79-percent of all accidents are due to distracted drivers.
