Phoebe honors volunteers at luncheon

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital honored its many volunteers at a luncheon Tuesday.

It was held at the SOWEGA Council Center.

They recognized all of their volunteers with different awards for their extraordinary service and dedication.

The volunteers are very important to the hospital with the number of hours and service they put in each day.

"They gave about 55,000 volunteer hours this past year, so if you can break that down into the time that it would take an employee to do these things, it is critical," said Phoebe Director of Volunteer Services Suzanne Perrine. "We couldn't make it without them."

Harriet Haskins was named the 2015 Volunteer of the Year.

This is Phoebe's 32nd annual luncheon.

Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the Department of Volunteer Service at 229-312-4336.
