VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Detectives with Valdosta police said they intercepted a large of marijuana after getting a tip that it was being delivered.
Officers responded to the 2400 block of Muscogee Drive and found two packages of marijuana.
Venderick Dawson, 29, was found to be the intended recipient and arrested. He was charged with possession with intent to distribute and first degree forgery.
The marijuana seized weighed nearly 10 pounds and had a street value of $88,000.
"Taking this much marijuana off the streets is a success. Not the largest amount we've ever taken off the streets, but it is very significant in putting a dent in the drug trade here in Valdosta," said VPD Capt. Bobbi McGraw.
Police refuse to say how the packages were shipped to the home, if Dawson was the intended recipient, or if Dawson even lived at the home. Dawson remains in the Lowndes County Jail.
