ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Department of Natural Resources has a new way to help keep you safe on the roads during times of peak deer activity.
They released a map showing when deer are expected to be most active in each county.
DNR Wildlife Biologists say it won't pick up in our area until mid-November through mid-December.
"If you do see a deer in the road it's best not to swerve, usually people lose control more easily when you swerve," said Brent Howze, Wildlife Biologist. "It's best just to hit the brakes and hope for the best."
Firearm deer hunting season begins October 17th.
The state now has a uniform end date for hunting season on January 10th.
