ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Athletes from as young as the age of 7 to 18 are competing in a USTA sanctioned tennis tournament at Double Gate Country club in Albany.
They have been swinging the racket since 8 AM Saturday morning, and didn't wrap up the day until the evening.
The tournament only cost participants about 40 dollars, and it attracted kids from all over the region including Columbus, North Florida and Alabama.
The organizer of the tournament said he had over 80 kids playing and around 200 spectators rooting them on.
"Doublegate country club and our kids love tennis, said David Buerkle. "So it seems the thing to do is host them a nice tennis tournament. Unfortunately there's only one winner per tournament, but the kids enjoy playing and they'll win their trophies and they'll also improve their rankings in the state of Georgia."
