ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Kmart partners with public safety workers to make sure families stay safe for the upcoming holidays.
The Albany Fire Department and Dougherty County EMS educated families outside of Kmart on Dawson Road today on how to stay safe in the community.
Kids got a chance to enjoy the EMS ambulance and fire trucks. Fire officials also passed out candy. Kmart officials say it's important for families to stay safe during the holidays.
"You know we're getting close to Halloween, so we're really trying to educate the kids on what to look for and how to be safe for this season," said Shane Harper, Kmart Asset Protection Manager. "Not only that, we're getting close to the holidays and you know thefts and crime rates rise a little bit so we're definitely trying to educate everybody on what they can do to make their neighborhoods, their home a safer place."
They'll also be out there Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
