A major Albany drug dealer was sentenced to 27 years in federal prison on Thursday.

Prosecutors said Kenneth Thornton, 36, set up a system of couriers and vehicles equipped with lock boxes hidden under them. He utilized a group of associates to traffick large quantities of meth from Atlanta to Albany and Panama City.

Thornton plead guilty on April 9, 2015 and was charged with Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.
