Moultrie armed robbers caught on camera

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - Moultrie Police need your help to find two armed robbers caught on camera robbing a convenience store. The robbers took hundreds of dollars in cash early Friday morning.

A Murphy Express Clerk is caught off guard as two armed robbers grab him, forcing him to open his cash register drawers.

"Then he realized that it's a robbery at that point they pull him, they grab him and they pull him to the direction of the cash registers," said Inv. Eric Hill, Moultrie Police.

The robbery happened just before 5:30 this morning at the Murphy Express convenience store off Veterans Parkway. The clerk walks outside, minutes later two men dressed in all black enter the store using a case of beer to prop open the door.

"Both of them had on gloves, black t-shirts and black shorts with some type of mask over their face," said Hill.

One of the robbers had a gun. When the clerk comes back in, the robbers force him to open both cash register drawers. A customer walks in but quickly leaves once they realize what was happening. The robbers got away with more than $300.

"It appears that they come up on the side of the store closest to Zaxby's to walk in and then leave in that same direction," said Hill.

Both the customer and clerk call 9-1-1. Police aren't sure how the robbers arrived or got away.

"We made contact with a lot of the businesses in that area to see if they had their cameras on and if it caught anything," said Hill.

If you think you recognize the men in the video you are asked to call Moultrie Police.
