LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) -

The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office continues to search for the person who they say robbed a Dollar General.

The robbery happened around 3:30 Thursday afternoon at the store at the intersection of Highway 122 and Highway 125. According to the sheriff's office, a man rushed an employee as the employee was getting into her car to take the store's money to a bank to deposit it.

"[The suspect] grabbed the bag which the money was contained in and fled the business," said Lowndes County Sheriff's Office Lt. Stryde Jones. "[The employee] chased him just a very short period and he ran into a residential neighborhood."

The suspect is described as a young black man, last seen wearing knee length shorts and a dark blue shirt. He is believed to have gotten into a small gray or silver car and headed towards Lakeland on Highway 122.

Call the sheriff's office if you have any information.
