AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - For the 28th straight year, vendors are setting up food stands and promoting their restaurants in A Taste of Sumter.
The event kicked off a little after 5:30 p.m. Thursday and organizers were expecting several hundred people to show up.
Admission is $5, but that gets you $3 in food tokens as well. A live band also played for guests.
"It's a great way to show off what local food options we have, it brings a lot of people together," said Interim Downtown Director Ben Andrews. "It's a good way for new restaurants to get out there and get some free publicity and we have a lot of people who just really enjoy it every year."
The event runs until 9 p.m.
