ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take Back day, and the Georgia Sheriff's Association wants you to take part.
In Dougherty County there is a medication drop off box in the Courthouse Lobby. People can drop off expired medications and prescription pills there.
The Sheriff's Association warned not to flush medication, because it can harm the water supply.
And they said leaving expired medication in your home could end up in the wrong hands.
"Teenagers do it all the time," said Captain Craig Dodd with the Dougherty Co. Sheriff's Office. "Grandparents, they are watching kids. You don't want all this stuff lying around."
The Sheriff's Association asks you to dispose of your expired medication in the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigations locked box.
